1. Scope
This notice applies to medical courier operations in which 518 Courier transports specimens, pharmaceuticals, medical supplies and documents on behalf of healthcare clients. 518 Courier does not transport patients or passengers.
2. HIPAA-aligned practices
We apply HIPAA-aligned administrative, physical and technical safeguards to protected health information encountered during transport, and we limit access to authorized, trained personnel.
3. Business Associate Agreements
Where a client requires a Business Associate Agreement (BAA), 518 Courier will enter into a BAA and provide supporting documentation as needed.
4. Chain of custody
Medical shipments are handled under documented chain-of-custody procedures, with signatures, timestamps and tamper-evident handling where appropriate.
5. Minimum necessary
Personnel access only the information necessary to complete transport. We do not open sealed medical packaging except as instructed and permitted.
6. Breach reporting
Any suspected privacy or security incident involving protected information is escalated and reported under our Incident & Breach Reporting procedures, and affected clients are notified as required.
